compatible?

Marcus and I took a test a while back to start off our pre-marital counseling. And no, it wasn't a compatibility test. It just profiled our backgrounds, current state, and expectations. We are meeting with Rev. Mike tomorrow to go over our strengths as a couple. The following weeks will revolve around our weakness and communication methods. I am eager to hear what he has to say. I am also eager to try and improve our communication. I don't think we're a disaster when it comes to communication (if we were, we might not have lasted this long), but we definitely come from two very different ways of communicating and sometimes it's difficult to find a middle ground for arguing or expressing opinions. We'll keep you posted on our progress as things unfold.

PS- Today is Jared's (Marcus' nephew and groomsman) birthday... so Happy Birthday Jared! :)

steppin' out

Well, I've been on the lookout for wedding shoes lately. The dress is suppose to come in next month and I need to have the shoes bought for the fittings. I knew that the shoes would be the hardest thing for me to shop for. I can't wear much of a heel, which really limits the number of dressy shoes to choose from. Also, since the wedding is in November in Calgary, I was trying to avoid open toe/sandal styles so my feet don't freeze. I kept going back and forth about getting very plain/traditional beige/cream flats (to match the dress) or buying something that was quirky and individual (that I would wear often following the big day). And this weekend, I found the perfect quirky shoe... Converse Chuck Taylor Hi-tops. No joke. All black, suede, with a floral/paisley pattern. They're sooo comfy, and sooo cool. And actually, very dressy. I know, I know... not exactly shoes for a wedding, let alone for a bride. But it's more exhausting trying to be the typical wedding or bride from some magazine than just being me. So everyone with just have to settle with me. Or more appropriately, settle for "us". Marcus had the wonderful idea of getting all the attendants and even Tina to wear black Converse shoes. We're lookin' into that idea. I took pics of my new fav shoes...

Aren't they cool?!

Invitations

So, I've been struggling with where to get our invitations printed up. I've been pricing things out, and the range is all over the map out here in Vancouver. Everything from digital online printing through someone like Vistaprint to small mom-and-pop digital houses, to offset.

Just not sure what to settle on, but I better settle soon.

We had originally planned to have the invitations go out in April, but that just didn't work out. So now we are a bit up in the air on it. Etiquette seems to say around 3 - 6 months notice. Which means they need to be printed and sent out pretty soon! The sooner the better for planning...

Anyhow, that's just what I've been thinking and working on lately. Anyone have some thoughts?
